The Marketing Technologies Bureau has conducted market research and determined the average market price of compassion.

The nature of begging, as a social phenomenon and the motives are clear, but the attitude of modern society to this issue had not been studied before.

Research Department of the Marketing Technologies Bureau has conducted a survey * of citizens of Kiev, who gave interesting results and the ground for reflection.

It is a clear separation of the perception of begging (alcoholics, disabled, needy, etc.) and alms (representatives of churches, elderly women in the church). It is interesting that among the "asylum" the musicians got a huge sum of money – it is a kind of tribute to the fair form of begging. But the indisputable "bestsellers" are people with disabilities (over 50% of the respondents most often served it to them).

Assessment of the "capacity" of the market also gives reason to pause. Every fourth respondent gives alms once a month or more. And the average "fee" (up to 5 hr), the monthly sum of "buying" – is a little more than 1,5 UAH. That is, the monthly turnover of only the capital market is about 4.5 million USD!

Anecdotally, as a rule, more young people give alms for the elderly and middle-aged people more often help minors. But analysis of the plants of people with different income levels showed a very different proportion: the higher the income, the lower the likelihood that this person will give alms, the lower income - so lesser categorical rejection of the donation.

* The telephone survey of a formalized questionnaire. The sample is representative by age and sex residents of the city of Kiev. A total amount is 400 interviews. A telephone interviewer quality control: 25% interviews are valid.
